HR 101: Hiring

Free – $25.00HR101 is a 6-session series of programs designed for new HR professionals. The series will cover topics in the work cycle of employees, starting with Hiring, and later addressing FLSA/Wage and Hour, Recordkeeping/HRIS, Workers Compensation, OHSA, and Unemployment Compensation Each series event is approved for 1 credit hour: SHRM and HRCI.
The HR101 session on Hiring will cover:
An introductory session to give an overview of the best practices in the early components of the employment life cycle which may include but not limited to:
Pre-work-job descriptions, Attracting-job/posting advertisements, Recruiting-candidate selection process, interviews, Hiring/Onboarding-documentation, required reporting.
Applicable Laws: EEO (Title VII, ADEA, ADA, GINA, PWFA, USERRA); Accommodations in the interview process and after hiring; FCRA; Background Checks; Employment Authorization/I-9; and Developments to watch, including Pay Transparency and AI/Automated Software
Laura Bailey Gallagher, Esq. is an attorney/partner at Harmon & Davies. She has been practicing labor and employment law for 26 years. She has been a member of LSHRM for 22 years, on the LSHRM Government Affairs Committee for a total of 16 years, and is a member SHRM.
Kasey Patterson is the Human Resources Manager for Willow Valley Associates Inc. She has been an HR practitioner for 8 years. She has been a member of LSHRM for 3 years, on the LSHRM Government Affairs Committee for 3 years, and is a member SHRM.
