OSHA: It’s Not Just a Small Town in Wisconsin by Angela Sanders and Aron Hoffman
Many employers are caught by surprise when OSHA unexpectedly shows up at their door. This presentation will provide an overview of the most important standards that employers must know to avoid an OSHA citation. The presentation will also provide practical guidance and tips for responding to an OSHA inspection and navigating the enforcement process.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand how the Occupational Safety and Health Act impacts employers of all sizes and industry.
- Ensure compliance with recordkeeping and reporting obligations.
- Update drug and alcohol policies in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Understand employer obligations concerning temporary staff, and updating contracts with staffing companies.
- Proactively prepare for unanticipated OSHA inspections, including inspections triggered by workplace injuries.
Each series event is approved for 1 credit hour: SHRM and HRCI.
About the Presenters:
Angela Sanders is a principal in Post & Schell’s Employment and Labor Practice Group. Angela represents clients in OSHA inspections, investigations and enforcement actions, including citation defense and whistleblower claims. Angela counsels clients on occupational safety and health matters, including compliance audits, hazard assessment, policy development, and employee training.
Aron Hoffman is the President and Owner of Elite Management Consulting, and has more than two decades of experience in occupational safety and health compliance. Aron regularly develops workplace safety and health programs, provides on-site employee training, and a range of other services to assist employers in reducing workers’ compensation costs and avoiding OSHA citations.
HR101 is a 6-session series of programs designed for new HR professionals. The series will cover topics in the work cycle of employees, starting with Hiring, and later addressing FLSA/Wage and Hour, Recordkeeping/HRIS, Workers Compensation, OHSA, and Unemployment Compensation. Each series event is approved for 1 credit hour: SHRM and HRCI.
