Ultimately, it comes down to the relationships that we foster that help us navigate, persist, thrive and advance in our professional and personal endeavors. Creating a network of mentors, sponsors and advocates is proven to be important to the success and development of all professionals. Knowing the differences between these roles and how they can help meet personal and professional goals is usually not clear. How do we intentionally, strategically and authentically cultivate these relationships? Let’s share insights and explore strategies to help HR professionals, and the teams they lead, reach their retention goals.
Learning Objectives – As a result of this program, attendees will be able to:
1. Provide researched insights into mentoring and professional development as a key retention strategy
2. Begin planning to provide and structure opportunities for mentor, advocate and sponsor relationships within their organization
3. Collect meaningful data on the impact of structured relationship opportunities within, and outside of, their organization

About the Speaker: Bilita “Bili” Mattes, Executive Director, STEM-UP Network
Bilita “Bili” Mattes is the Executive Director of STEM-UP Network, a social enterprise powered by Harrisburg University. The STEM-UP Network addresses the gender talent gap in the STEM workforce. For over a decade, the STEM-UP team and community has worked directly with women in STEM to provide them with real-world strategies and opportunities to build their professional networks and relationships, to mentor and be mentored, to develop their leadership and career skills, and to navigate and advance their careers. Bili has over twenty-five years of experience in higher education leadership, and most recently served as Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Harrisburg University for 12 years. Prior to joining higher education, her professional background was in training and development with business and industry
