June Chapter Meeting

HR professionals are constantly being asked to be more “data-driven.”  But what data exist that truly drives organizational performance?  Two sets of data that you should be looking at now, will give you a good picture of the demographic complexity of the Lancaster community: the US Decennial Census data and the most recent American Community Survey.  Fortunately, we have the premier “data-crunchers” for that information right in our backyard!  Join Jennifer Shultz of the PA State Data Center in Middletown to explore how Lancaster County is changing with respect to overall population trends, race and ethnicity, educational attainment, college-bound graduates, and income.  Jennifer is a “numbers wizard” so bring your questions to this event.

Learning Objectives:

As a result of this program, attendees will be able to:

1.  Understand current census data for the state and county

2.  Evaluate census changes and their impact on hiring, compensation, training, etc

3.  Plan for adapting HR processes and practices to account for demographic changes

Jennifer is the Data Services Manager for the Pennsylvania State Data Center. With over 20 years at the Center, Jennifer leads specific projects related to data collection, data dissemination and data analysis. This includes performing a variety of activities including computer programming, data base design and management; digital dashboard production, graphic design, mapping; statistical analysis and report writing.  Jennifer has extensive experience with U.S. Census decennial data in addition to American Community Survey data. Jennifer manages the Data Center’s dissemination of data, and oversees all of the programming, report production and database development using Census Bureau and other federal and state agency data. Jennifer is a current member of the State Data Center Program Steering Committee.
