How To Fuel Innovation Through People and Culture

Session Overview
HR leaders, as stewards of people and culture, are in a unique position to model and support the human-centered mindsets and practices that fuel innovation, to help companies adapt to change and solve persistent challenges. Because the tools and attitudes of Design Thinking align with modern HR principles, this is another way HR can impact business strategy and growth.

Why is this important? Companies that have experienced years of success are more prone to becoming comfortable in their current state, focused on delivering results for current customers, unaware of the cultural side effects of success that actually inhibit innovation. A focus on execution inhibits experimentation, but innovation is what will propel strong organizations into the next level and allow them to continue to stay relevant to employees and customers as market factors change. How leaders react to new ideas and failed attempts greatly affects employee’s willingness to bring forth and pursue breakthrough ideas. Does your organization have millennials full of misguided bright ideas? It’s great. We can work with that!

This interactive session will demonstrate the process and mindsets of Design Thinking and a few key activities HR leaders can incorporate into policies and practices they manage, as well as how they might advocate for a more human-centered philosophy towards marketing/sales, product management and people management.
