Continuing Care Retirement Community

Brethren Village is seeking a qualified individual, with experience in the Human Resources field, who wants a part-time work schedule (approximately 8 to 10 work hours per week).    This is a great part-time opportunity for a motivated individual with at least two years of work experience in a Human Resources department.

The Employment Assistant will perform administrative and clerical work to support a busy Human Resources office.  The Employment Assistant’s primary focus will be supporting our employment processes by administering the reference checking process; screening and interviewing employment applicants when needed; and helping to coordinate the onboarding process as needed. The Employment Assistant will also provide general administrative support for the office as time permits.

The Employment Assistant will work collaboratively with other Human Resources staff and hiring managers.

 

Primary Responsibilities will Include:

  • Conducting thorough reference checks, in a timely manner, by contacting applicants’ prior employers and other professional references, and documenting the information provided.
  • Screening employment applicants and conducting thorough and effective employment interviews as needed.
  • Assisting the Human Resources Coordinator, as needed, with the onboarding of newly-hired Team Members.
  • Helping to coordinate bi-weekly, all-day orientation sessions for newly-hired Team Members, as needed.
  • Assisting with event planning on behalf of the Human Resources office as time permits.
  • Providing general administrative assistance, including completing accurate data entry; responding to inquiries; coordinating mailings; copying and filing; coordinating meetings.

Work Schedule:

Part-time:  Generally 8 to 10 hours per week between Monday and Friday, during the day.  Hours may vary a bit from week to week.  Reasonable flexibility will be provided in terms of specific work days and hours.

 

Required Core Competencies and Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • An Associate’s degree in Human Resources, business administration, management, marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of related work experience within a Human Resources department.
  • Knowledge of effective interviewing and reference checking techniques.
  • Solid understanding of employment regulations, including EEO / anti-discrimination regulations and the ADA.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; comfort and skill in communicating with others in a professional manner.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy with work.
  • Commitment to adhering to privacy and confidentiality standards with respect to Human Resources information and data, and using proper discretion in all communications.
  • Ability and willingness to support all Human Resources initiatives and to work cooperatively with colleagues.
  • Dependability / ability and willingness to meet attendance standards.
  • Ability to represent the Human Resources office and Brethren Village in a mature and professional manner, aligned with our core values of caring, integrity, stewardship, and excellence.
