From the pandemic to this year’s ongoing bear market, being an investor has not been much fun lately. Inflation is chewing in to paychecks at a record-setting rate. Employees are changing jobs so they can cash out their 401k and household debt is rising at the fastest pace in 15 years.
This has many HR professionals asking what support and guidance they can offer employees who are struggling with money decisions or wondering if it’s worth it to continue saving in their 401k.
As if that wasn’t enough, according to the most recent reports of the US Chamber of Commerce, there are currently 10 million job openings but only 6 million unemployed workers. This put tremendous pressure on HR professionals to recruit effective, retain their workers and engage their workforces to achieve the highest possible levels of productivity.
In this session, we discuss the role of a 401k in addressing these challenges. Specifically, we will consider what employees are seeking from their employer and what service, guidance and support HR professionals can expect from their 401k vendors. We will talk about the services you should be receiving, the services you could be receiving and how to get more help for your company and your employees.
In this session, we will review the various roles involved in operating a retirement plan. We will review who is a fiduciary and what duties are required. With this foundation, we will walk through the range of services available from providers and give HR professionals a foundation for evaluating the level and quality of service they are currently receiving.
We will wrap up with several case studies and best practices for how employers are taking full advantage of their vendor teams to improve the competitiveness of their retirement benefits program and providing the support and guidance employees are seeking in these challenging times.
