Description: Both the pandemic and the expectations of new generations entering the workforce have changed the way people view work, creating new challenges for employers in the areas of workforce needs and operations. As the dust on 2020 finally settles, employers must assess current and future workforce needs to meet the demands of the “new normal” workplace and ensure continued business success.
The Lancaster County Workforce Development Board and Economic Development Company of Lancaster County partnered to conduct an analysis of labor force trends in Lancaster County, assessing key data points from 2019 (baseline pre-pandemic) to 2022. The presentation provides an overview of the County’s current labor supply, employment and unemployment rates, data and analysis of workforce churn rates, and labor market issues impacting key industry segments in the County. The presentation will identify current and anticipated trends in the local workforce to help employers address immediate workforce needs and plan for future growth.
The program will provide attendees with an overview of workforce solutions, programs and services available in Lancaster County to:
(1) Recruit new team members through alternative recruitment channels and new apprenticeship opportunities.
(2) Develop and enhance the skills of current workforce members through upskilling, incumbent worker training, and career pathway development.
(3) Expand and enhance their workforce to meet future needs.
Learning Objectives:
1) Assess and evaluate their current workforce needs based on the state of the local labor market
2) Develop and implement new recruitment strategies through alternative recruitment channels, new apprenticeship opportunities, and other local programs designed to stimulate local workforce
3) Plan for future workforce needs based on anticipated trends in the local labor market
4) Develop and implement internal programs to meet future workforce needs by enhancing the skills of current employees
5) Develop initiatives to support long term workforce growth through career pathways targeted to current students.
