Presented by the LSHRM Workforce Readiness Committee in partnership with the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and Industry

This is a special 2-hour event.  Please arrive by 7:30 a.m.

The current workforce climate in Lancaster County is both challenging and concerning.  With a low unemployment rate and a robust, diverse business community, there is a workforce deficiency that may even border on crisis levels.  This baseball-themed program will introduce HR professionals to a variety of methods to create a comprehensive recruitment strategy.  Attendees will receive guidance and ideas for evaluating their current recruiting strategies as well as language and data to help them develop and implement new tactics to reach prospective employees and engage their existing workforce. Finally, we will present examples of how modern recruitment activities must incorporate marketing principles to achieve successful outcomes.

Employee recruitment is a major responsibility for most HR professionals. The importance and value of a correct hire is measured throughout an organization, from engagement surveys to productivity reports. A misfit can devastate morale, decrease efficiencies, and impact the bottom line. HR professionals must have a multi-pronged approach to identifying and attracting talent that matches an organization’s culture and aligns with its strategic goals. This program will examine:

  1. The impact of poor recruiting outcomes and workforce vacancies on economic development countywide.
  2. Effective ways to leverage technology in recruiting for short-term workforce needs.
  3. How to build a pipeline for long-term workforce needs through partnerships with schools and post-secondary institutions.
  4. Ideas for engaging your current workforce in reaching your recruiting goals.

2 SHRM/HRCI credits pending.
