Terminating an employee is one of the most difficult tasks that employers face. In an effort to spare an employee’s feelings, employers often fail to provide direct feedback to employees, instead relying on generalities like “It’s just not working out” or “You’re not a good fit.” When employees do not receive direct and specific feedback about the reasons for termination, they often perceive the termination as unfair and discriminatory.
